Event Manager

Bruxelles, Belgium

As Event Manager of ESN KULBrussels, you are the central force behind our section’s event strategy and execution. Your mission is twofold: coordinate and mentor Project Managers who organize individual events, and personally lead key events that define the ESN experience.

You're not just managing logistics—you’re shaping the social and cultural life of the section. Whether you’re empowering others or running your own event from scratch, your work creates unforgettable moments for local and international students. If you love planning, leadership, and dynamic teamwork—this is your ideal role.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, and coordinate Project Managers responsible for organizing specific events.
  • Oversee the semester’s event calendar and ensure a balanced, engaging program.
  • Offer support in logistics, planning, budgeting, and risk assessment to Project Managers.
  • Organize flagship or strategic events yourself (e.g. welcome weeks, major trips, or partnerships).
  • Ensure all events align with ESN values of inclusivity, accessibility, and cultural exchange.
  • Collaborate with the Treasurer on budgeting and the Communications Manager for promotion.
  • Provide feedback to your team, collect event reports, and track impact and participation.
  • Promote collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement within the events team.

Must Have

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to lead teams and also execute events independently.
  • Creative mindset and passion for community building.
  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Reliability and comfort working under pressure.
  • Interest in intercultural dialogue and event diversity.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience in event management or student associations.
  • Familiarity with tools like Odoo, Canva, Google Drive, or event management templates.
  • Multilingual skills (English required; French or Dutch are a bonus).
  • Understanding of event safety, budgeting, or nonprofit management.
  • Connections with local venues, institutions, or potential collaborators.

What's great in the job?

  • Dual Role – Lead and mentor while still getting hands-on with the events you love.
  • High Impact – Every successful event is a direct result of your leadership or initiative.
  • Professional Growth – Build leadership, organizational, and public-facing skills.
  • Community & Creativity – Shape a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for international students.
  • Flexible and Empowering – You choose which events to lead, and which to delegate and support.
